Tinubu’s Minister Declares Support For Protests

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has voiced his support for the current protest organized by the Take It Back Movement, saying he would have personally participated in the demonstration if he had the time.

Speaking with reporters in Abuja yesterday, Monday, following the 2025 Annual Management Conference of the National Youth Service Corps, the minister underscored the right of young Nigerians to peacefully express their concerns.

“Everyone has the right to protest. If I even have the time, I will go and join the protest,” Olawande said.

He emphasized that while peaceful demonstrations are a fundamental right in a democracy, any destruction of government property or violent behavior would not be condoned, particularly if such actions could negatively impact the country’s economy.

“Youths should speak their minds, but they shouldn’t be violent, and government infrastructure should not be destroyed,” he said.

The minister stated that the Federal Government has not stifled protests and is willing to address the issues raised by citizens.

“No government has stopped anyone from protesting and pouring out their grievances,” Olawande said. “They will be listened to and be addressed. I will be there to address them if I even have the time.”

The minister made these comments against the backdrop of increasing protests by the Take It Back Movement, which have seen participation from young people in various states across the country.
