Galadima Speaks On ‘Plot’ To Destabilise Kano, Force State Of Emergency

Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has claimed that there is a deliberate plan underway to create instability in Kano State and force the Federal Government to impose a state of emergency there.

Galadima made this accusation during his appearance on “Jigsaw,” a political program broadcast on AIT on Tuesday.

He further alleged that this scheme is being carried out without the awareness of President Bola Tinubu.

“On the Kano situation, because unknown to him, and I can beat my chest that he didn’t know, Tinubu didn’t know what happened, what was arranged,” he said.

“There was a grand design to set up the Kano state government, including the Emir, such that they could declare a state of emergency.”

Galadima went on to claim that a high-level meeting took place in Abuja to plan this alleged destabilization.

He also stated that a significant individual, purportedly intended to become the Emir of Kano, was intentionally sent outside Nigeria during this crucial time.

“There was a meeting in a senior official of government’s house in this Abuja, and the man that was supposed to be appointed Emir was sent to Umrah, and as I speak to you now, he is in Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Galadima asserted that the individuals behind the alleged plot anticipated that once the current Emir of Kano was summoned and detained in Abuja, the military would be put on standby, and the Emir’s position would be declared vacant.

“Their thinking is that once the Emir is invited today, he will be detained in Abuja. Once he’s detained, the military will be put on alert and the throne will be declared vacant,” he said.

When the host of the program asked him to name the person supposedly being groomed for the Emirship, Galadima refused to disclose any names.

“No, I don’t want to mention names. Go and find out who is in Saudi Arabia out of the princes in Kano. Everybody in Nigeria knows what is happening,” he said.

Buba Galadima’s allegations come after a recent event involving the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

On Monday, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, retracted a previous invitation that had asked the Emir to appear at the police headquarters in Abuja.

This invitation had been issued the previous week concerning alleged deaths that occurred during the recent Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
