Rivers Government Disowns Appointments

Professor Ibibia Worika, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, has urged the state’s residents to be cautious of those spreading fake news.

Worika stated that the creators of these false reports aim not only to mislead the public but also to create tension in the state.

He also denied reports that Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, the former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, had been appointed as the new Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency.

This denial was issued in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Saturday by Julianna Masi, the Head of the Press Unit in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, and sent to the media.

The SSG firmly refuted the alleged appointment of Nwanosike and the purported approval for the recruitment of 10,000 individuals into the state civil service.

Worika described these reports as untrue and without basis, urging the public to disregard such rumors.

He advised residents and the people of Rivers State to rely solely on official government channels for accurate information.

The statement partly reads, “We wish to categorically inform the good people of Rivers State and the general public to ignore the fake announcements.

“Be informed that all official communications from the Office of the Administrator of Rivers State have appropriate channels through which they are circulated, and pay attention to such channels.

“The Government remains steadfast in its pursuit of a peaceful, prosperous and united state.”
