Joe Igbokwe Issues Warning Over Maginalisation Of South East

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has strongly cautioned about the possible repercussions of the ongoing marginalization of the South-East geopolitical zone.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, Igbokwe voiced serious concern over what he perceives as a consistent pattern of neglect towards the region in national matters.

“If Nigeria continues to treat the South-East as if the zone does not exist or does not matter, the consequences will be huge,” he wrote. “The civil war has ended, but the scars are still there. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Neglect of SE is bad.”

Igbokwe’s comments are made against a backdrop of increasing criticism regarding perceived unfairness in appointments made by the Tinubu administration.

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, had previously warned that such an imbalance in federal appointments could lead to significant political consequences.

The Presidency, however, has defended the appointments, asserting that merit remains President Tinubu’s primary consideration.

The statements from Ndume and Igbokwe have intensified discussions about the importance of inclusion, fairness, and the need for balanced representation in government.
