PDP Governors Reveal Decision On Coalition

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the primary opposition party in Nigeria, has declined to participate in a proposed coalition aimed at challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

This decision was a key outcome of the PDP Governors’ meeting, which took place in Ibadan, Oyo State, from Sunday to Monday.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who serves as the forum’s chairman, conveyed this decision to journalists in a communique.

He clarified that while the PDP is not forming a coalition, they are open to admitting individuals or parties who wish to join their ranks.

This stance contrasts with the efforts of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate in the previous election, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate, who have been advocating for a coalition to unseat the APC in 2027.
