The Kogi State Police Command has announced the commencement of an investigation into the reported attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP-Kogi Central) in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, it was confirmed that the investigation was initiated following a report of an attack on the house by unidentified hoodlums.
The statement further conveyed that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to immediately launch a thorough and discreet investigation into the alleged attack to determine its cause, with the aim of identifying, arresting, and prosecuting those responsible.

“This is consequent upon the distress call received from one Yakubu Ovanja, Aide to Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on April 16 at about 0330hrs made to the Divisional Police Officer, attached to Okehi Division.
“He stated that on the same date at about 0100hrs, some hoodlums numbering about three, armed with cutlasses invaded the family house of the said senator and damaged some front window glasses.
“Immediately the information was received by the DPO, he mobilised his men for an on- the-spot assessment.
“He met a young man named Michael Akpoti in the house who narrated how the hoodlums used cutlasses to damage the said building while trying to gain access into the house before he raised alarm which made the hoodlums to flee,” the statement said.
The police statement indicated that the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate investigation to verify the report’s authenticity and address the situation appropriately.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, commenting on the incident, stated that the suspected gunmen attacked her family residence on Tuesday night, believing she was in town.
She added that security personnel and community members responded swiftly during the attack, forcing the gunmen to flee.
“No one was hurt. A report on the incident was quickly made at the police area command of the LGA,” she said.
