The Vatican has announced that Pope Francis’s funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am (0800 GMT) in St Peter’s Square.
Following the funeral mass for the Argentine pontiff, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88, his coffin will be brought inside St Peter’s Basilica and subsequently transferred to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome for burial.

The Vatican had previously confirmed that the Pope died on Easter Monday at his residence within Vatican City, the Casa Santa Marta.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, announced Pope Francis’s death from the Casa Santa Marta on Monday morning, stating that he passed away at 7:35 am.
