This demonstration is the most recent in a series of protests, both for and against the suspended officials, that have occurred in the state since March 18th.

On that date, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and the members of the State House of Assembly.
