Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, is attending the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, alongside other state governors.
This marks Ibas’s first appearance at the NEC meeting since his appointment as Sole Administrator for Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu in March 2025, following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is chairing the meeting, which is being attended by numerous governors and some deputy governors from Nigeria’s 36 states.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who defected to the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday, led the opening prayers at the Vice President’s request.
Other governors observed at the meeting include Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hycinth Alia, Kwara’s Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, Edo’s Monday Okpebholo, and Cross River’s Bassey Otu, among others.
A significant number of Deputy Governors are also present at the meeting.
