The Federal Government has announced Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday in honor of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
It emphasized the importance of peace in fostering industrial development and economic progress.
This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their dedication and hard work, acknowledging their vital role in the nation’s achievements and the respect Nigeria enjoys globally.
”There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building”, the minister said.
Tunji-Ojo, therefore, called on workers to embrace innovation and enhance their productivity.
He urged them to elevate the standards in their professions, contributing to improved governance and ensuring that all Nigerians fully benefit from the country’s resources.
“This Administration is fully committed to the security of life and property of every citizen and foreigners in the country, ” he assured the citizens.
“While wishing workers a happy celebration, the Honourable Minister urged Nigerians to keep hope alive as the present administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda he has promised,” he added.
