Court Reinstates Suspended Edo LG Chairman

An Edo State High Court in Igarra has ruled that the impeachment of Taju Alade, the elected chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, was unlawful and has ordered his immediate reinstatement.

Justice B. A. Okoh, the presiding judge, directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to provide Alade with the necessary security to resume his duties.

In his judgment, Justice Okoh also stated that the court has the jurisdiction to hear the case, rejecting the Edo State government’s challenge to its authority.
