Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has announced Friday as a public holiday, allowing civil servants to participate in welcoming President Bola Tinubu to the state for the commissioning of completed projects.
Governor Radda made the announcement on Thursday during the 2025 International Workers’ Day Celebration.
He stated, “I am pleased to inform you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be visiting Katsina State tomorrow to commission several key projects we have completed over the past two years. In light of this, I hereby declare tomorrow a work-free day, so that civil servants can join us in giving the President a warm and honorable welcome.”

Addressing the theme of the Workers’ Day celebration, “Reclaiming the Civic Space Amid Economic Hardship,” Governor Radda praised Katsina workers for their dedication and commitment despite difficult economic times.
During the event, the Katsina Council of organized labor called for improved security measures, urging the Federal Government to enhance efforts to secure agricultural communities in the state.
Hussaini Yanduna, Chairman of the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Organized Labour, made this request, emphasizing the need for farmers to work without fear of violence or extortion.
He believes this can be achieved by strengthening the state’s security infrastructure.
Yanduna also expressed appreciation for Governor Radda’s efforts in ensuring peace and stability in the state, noting the significant improvement in security.
He also commended the Governor for the prompt payment of gratuities to retirees, stating,
“We must not forget to appreciate and commend His Excellency for prompt payment of backlog of gratuity to retirees at both State and Local Government Areas, billions of naira was injected to settle the gratuity up to 2023 and verification for those retired in 2024 is about to commence this is highly commendable, we thank you immensely your Excellency for this milestone achievement.”
