Details Of Akpabio’s Fresh Petition Against Natasha Emerge

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a petition with the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking a court order to compel suspended Kogi Central lawmaker Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to remove a satirical apology she posted on her social media platforms.

Akpabio’s legal team, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, submitted a new application to the court, arguing that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s video violated a judge’s directive.

Ogunwumiju, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is requesting the court to direct Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete the video and remove the post from all her social media accounts.

Additionally, he is seeking a court order mandating Akpoti-Uduaghan to publish a written apology in at least two national newspapers and provide an affidavit confirming her compliance with the court’s directives.

This legal action is a response to a controversial video posted by Akpoti-Uduaghan on April 27, in which she mockingly “apologized” to Akpabio.

In the video, she expressed “sorry for the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect” and sarcastically regretted not allowing the Senate President to “have his way” with her.

The video quickly gained widespread attention on social media and was interpreted as a direct jab at Akpabio amidst their ongoing dispute.

The conflict between the two senators originated from an altercation in the Senate chamber regarding seating arrangements.
