The Senate on Tuesday officially recognized the defection of Senators Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Key APC figures, including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, and Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Yusuf Sununu, were present at the Senate for the announcement.

Following these defections, the Senate’s composition is now: APC – 68, PDP – 30, Labour Party – 5, NNPP – 1, SDP – 2, and APGA – 1.

Their formal move to the APC comes days after they publicly declared their intention to join the ruling party after meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
