Osun Assembly Takes Strong Action On Adeleke

The Osun State House of Assembly has Passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke and endorsed him for a second term in office.

Governor Adeleke’s current term will end in November 2026, and he is expected to seek re-election before then.

A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, reported that all 25 members present at the plenary session unanimously agreed to continue supporting Governor Adeleke.

“During a plenary session on Tuesday, the 26-member Assembly, comprised of 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party and one from the All Progressives Congress, expressed their full support for the governor,” the statement read.

Speaker Adewale Egbedun praised Governor Adeleke’s achievements and congratulated him on his 65th birthday. He highlighted the governor’s commitment to Osun’s development and the positive impacts of his administration’s five-point agenda.

“Lawmakers, as representatives of the people, take pride in the governor’s leadership, and we urge him to continue striving for even greater accomplishments,” Egbedun stated.

Simeone Popoola, representing Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency, commented, “Politics aside, Mr. Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”

The motion for the vote of confidence was introduced by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi (Obokun State Constituency) and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola (Ede South State Constituency). Following the motion, the Speaker called for a vote, and the Assembly members overwhelmingly voted in favor, officially endorsing Governor Adeleke.
