The Senate has officially acknowledged the defection of three senators – Adamu Aliero representing Kebbi Central, Yahaya Abdullahi from Kebbi North, and Garba Maidoki representing Kebbi South – from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This announcement was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, formalizing their recent departure from the opposition party.

As a result of this move, the APC’s representation in the 10th National Assembly has increased to 68 senators, further solidifying their majority in the upper legislative chamber.
The National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, and the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Yusuf Sununu, were present at the Senate during the announcement.
Their official defection follows their public announcement of the move to the ruling party days prior, after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
