Senate Confirms Appointment Of Five INEC Commissioners

The Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of five individuals to serve as Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This confirmation came after the Senate reviewed a report presented by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters during a session on Wednesday.

Senator Simon Lalong, speaking on behalf of the committee, recommended the confirmation of the nominees, stating that they had successfully completed the screening process.

The confirmed Resident Electoral Commissioners are: Umar Yusuf Garba (Kano State), Sa’ad Umar Idris (Bauchi State), Chukwuemeka C. Ibeziako (Anambra State), Umar Mukhtar (Borno State), and Dr. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem (Bayelsa State).

This confirmation follows President Tinubu’s swearing-in of two other newly appointed INEC commissioners on Monday.
