The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a 950 trillion Pounds lawsuit filed by businessman Tunde Omosebi against former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and others, citing the suit as “highly unreasonable.”
Justice James Omotosho, in his judgment, addressed the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/767/2024, which Omosebi filed alleging breaches of his fundamental rights.
Omosebi’s initial motion, filed on June 5, 2024, named Hallies & Partner Ltd, Atiku Abubakar, Clifford Odibe, and Daniel Mbohok as defendants.
He later amended the suit without court permission, adding Ali Olayemi and Phrank Shaibu, and eventually expanded the defendant list to 13 by May 5.

Omosebi, describing himself as “a businessman, politician and by virtue of his positions as Chairman, Federal Executive Council (FEC) and Prime Minister of Federal Republic of Nigeria,” claimed he was assaulted and criminally intimidated at his office by agents of Hallies & Partner Ltd on July 6, 2023.
He sought £950 trillion for alleged assault, intimidation, trauma, and enforcement of his constitutional rights.
He also requested a public apology in various media outlets and a 20-kilometer restraining order against the defendants, along with £95 trillion in exemplary damages.
Justice Omotosho emphasized the court’s duty to conserve judicial resources by filtering out unreasonable cases.
He noted the procedural irregularities in Omosebi’s suit, including the unauthorized expansion of defendants, and ruled that the suit lacked a reasonable cause of action.
The judge advised Omosebi to await the judgment on his separate £990 trillion lawsuit against the CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, and others.
He also addressed the legal community, particularly the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), regarding the prevalence of such suits, stating, “We can’t continue this way because the temple of justice is not open for everything.”
Omosebi’s separate suit against the CBN Governor and commercial banks, also before Justice Omotosho, is scheduled for a ruling on preliminary objections on June 4.
