Nigerian Charged In Assault Case Involving Chris Brown

A Nigerian man and a US national, Omololu Akinlolu, 38, also known as the rapper “HoodyBaby,” has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the ongoing assault case involving US singer Chris Brown.

UK police, who had already charged Brown with assault earlier in the week, announced on Saturday that Akinlolu has also been charged in relation to the 2023 incident in London.

According to reports, Akinlolu is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court in northwestern England.

Chris Brown, 36, a Grammy-winning artist with a history of legal issues, including a felony conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009, was remanded in custody until June 13 by a Manchester court on Friday.

He faces the same charge of causing grievous bodily harm stemming from the alleged assault that occurred at a venue in Hanover Square, London, on February 19, 2023.

The judge’s decision to deny Brown’s bail has cast doubt on the start of his upcoming tour, which has sold-out shows in the Netherlands on June 8 and Germany on June 11.

Brown was reportedly detained after arriving at Manchester airport via private jet on Wednesday afternoon and was subsequently arrested at a five-star hotel in the city.

The charges against both Brown and Akinlolu relate to an alleged assault on music producer Abraham Diaw at the Tape nightclub in London in February 2023, where Brown is accused of attacking Diaw with a bottle.
