Following the inauguration mass at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo XIV shook hands with numerous world leaders, including President Tinubu, with whom he shared a brief conversation.

Other dignitaries who greeted the Pope included US Vice President J.D. Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Tinubu was among the global leaders attending the installation mass in Rome, Italy, which marked the commencement of Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate.3

During the mass, Pope Leo XIV delivered a homily emphasizing the need to protect the environment and support marginalized communities, urging the Church to be a force for positive change in a world characterized by division and hatred.
