Tinubu Approves Licenses For North’s Kolmani Oil Project

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the release of essential regulatory licenses for the Kolmani Integrated Development Project, a major oil exploration venture spanning Bauchi and Gombe states.

This development was announced during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy’s permanent site in Alkaleri, as stated by Nneamaka Okafor, the media advisor to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.

According to the announcement, President Tinubu’s decision underscores the importance of activating national facilities to transform Nigeria’s oil sector.

The Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, located in the Kolmani region, is seen as a key component in developing the human capital necessary to advance the energy industry.

The Federal Government, through the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), aims to enhance human capacity and technology within the sector, and anticipates a strong partnership with the academy.

The Kolmani Integrated Development Project, which began in November 2022, signifies the start of oil exploration in Northern Nigeria, situated in the Kolmani River II oil field.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) recently announced its intent to resume oil drilling at the site.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s support and pledged the state’s dedication to the academy’s success, highlighting its potential to foster skill development and innovation for the entire country.
