Nigerian Governor Approves Payment Of June Salary To Workers

To help civil servants celebrate the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival with ease, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has directed the early payment of June salaries starting Monday, June 2.

This early payment will cover state and local government workers, as well as staff of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) and pensioners across the state.

This marks the third such gesture since the current administration took office, aiming to ensure civil servants can purchase sacrificial animals and adequately prepare for the festival.

Governor Aliyu, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, urged civil servants to reciprocate the government’s goodwill through greater dedication and commitment to duty.

“I am using this medium to remind the civil servants of the popular saying, ‘To whom much is given, much is expected.’ Therefore, I expect them to be committed and dedicated to their work,” he stated.

He highlighted previous initiatives aimed at supporting workers, including prompt salary payments, restoration of cash allocations to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), Sallah gifts, and the payment of gratuity and pension backlogs to retirees.

“I expect the civil servants to reciprocate these efforts by being punctual and responsible at their places of work,” the governor added.

Governor Aliyu also reiterated his administration’s commitment to reinvigorating the state civil service to promote good governance and efficient service delivery.

He further assured the people of Sokoto State of his unwavering resolve to deliver more dividends of democracy to all parts of the state.
