Mohammed H. Abdullahi, a former Minister of Environment under the Buhari administration and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, has resigned his membership from the party.
This decision comes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi, who holds the traditional title of Magajin Garin Uke, formally announced his resignation in a letter dated June 1, 2025, addressed to the APC chairman in Uke Ward, Karu Local Government Area.

In the letter, the former minister cited “personal reasons” for his departure but did not provide further details.
He expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support he received during his time in the party and acknowledged his contributions to the APC’s development and growth in the state.
“I thank you for the cooperation while I was in the APC, where we made modest contributions in building the party in the state,” the letter read.
The resignation letter was also copied to the state chairman of the APC and the chairman of the APC in Karu Local Government Area, signaling his complete withdrawal from party activities.
It’s been noted that Abdullahi has recently been consulting with key political stakeholders across Nasarawa State as he prepares to formally declare his intention to contest for the governorship position in the 2027 general elections.
There are also rumors that he may be defecting to an opposition party to pursue this ambition.
