Several prominent leaders, including immediate past Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, and former House of Representatives member Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, were notably absent from the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders meeting held Saturday at the home of Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District.
Hosted by Senator Nwoko at his country home in Idumuje Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, the meeting primarily focused on strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Stakeholders, including APC chieftains, leaders, elders, youths, and party supporters from the senatorial district, also reaffirmed their commitment to the creation of Anioma State from the current Delta State.

Addressing attendees, Senator Nwoko announced that a technical committee would be inaugurated in Asaba to help him achieve the creation of Anioma State.
He stated, “We are on course. The technical committee will be inaugurated in Asaba to help me work towards actualising the creation of Anioma State.”
He further cited APC National Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje’s recent declaration at an Agbor gathering that “the creation of Anioma State is a done deal.” Nwoko added, “We have taken all the steps in the Senate. As of today, 75 senators are supporting Anioma State.
We have moved from the committee stage of the process to a public hearing coming up in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Thereafter, we will come back to the Senate for the third reading of the bill for the creation of Anioma State.”
Nwoko also revealed plans to commence a visitation tour next month across all nine local government areas in Delta North to showcase his developmental achievements over the past two years, including road construction and legislative activities.
He reiterated that his priorities remain the completion of the Ogwashi-Ukwu multi-purpose dam and the national grid step-down at Okpai for improved electricity, expressing confidence that “when we have light and water, everybody will be happy.”
Weeks prior to this meeting, Deputy Governor Onyeme, who claims to be the APC leader in Delta North Senatorial District according to party constitution, had questioned the rationale behind holding the APC meeting at Nwoko’s residence.
This highlights ongoing leadership tensions between the faction loyal to Ifeanyi Okowa/Monday Onyeme and Senator Ned Nwoko, issues that predate their time in APC and originated within the PDP.
In their remarks at the meeting, Chief Eluaka Adizue, Chairman of APC Delta North Senatorial District, urged new party members to register at their respective wards and through ongoing online membership registration.
Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, called for the reconciliation of aggrieved party members to foster stronger unity before the 2027 general elections.
Ochei emphasized, “We are not having a party to divide us. We are having a party to unify and unite everybody. We must unite the party, particularly in Delta North.”
