Shehu Sani Tells FG What To Do If Included In U.S Visa Ban

Former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has called on the Federal Government to retaliate with reciprocal measures if the United States implements a visa ban on Nigeria.

This comes after a leaked internal memo, signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, indicated that 36 countries, including Nigeria, could face travel restrictions if approved by US President Donald Trump.

The potential US action is reportedly driven by concerns over a lack of government transparency and inadequate databases for properly vetting travelers from the affected nations.

In response, Sani argued there is no justification for the US to include Nigeria in such a ban.

On X, he stated, “The US should not ban Nigerians from traveling to their country. There is no reason to do that. We don’t fall into the category of those Countries they consider as threats. But if they eventually ban us, our country should respond with similar gesture. However, there are those of us who appreciate the peace and dignity of our villages and mud houses than going to live in places where we are not welcomed.”
