APC National Chairman Ganduje Resigns

In a surprise move, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned from his position, effective immediately.

The former Governor of Kano State cited health reasons for his decision, stating he needs to focus on his well-being.

Ganduje’s tenure as APC chairman began in August 2023 and has been marked by controversy and internal party conflicts.

While his resignation letter cites health, sources close to the matter suggest that political tension and allegations of financial impropriety may have also contributed to his decision.

Some party members reportedly protested “excessive financial demands” from his office, with aspiring FCT area council candidates complaining about high fees for the party’s ticket.

His tenure was also plagued by legal challenges. In April 2024, a Kano State High Court issued a restraining order preventing him from identifying as a party member, although a separate suit seeking his removal as chairman was struck out by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Ganduje’s resignation represents a major leadership shift for the APC, and stakeholders are awaiting an official statement from the party, which has not yet commented on the development.

This has led to widespread speculation about the implications of his departure for the party’s future.
