Aye And Maphite Resume Cult War In Benin City

Tension gripped residents of Akugbe Street near Oliha Market in Benin City, Edo State, on Friday after a young man identified as Emma was killed in a suspected cult-related attack.

Emma also known as Biggy is a suspected Maphite cult member.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, driving two vehicles, chased the victim before opening fire on him, leaving him with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Eyewitnesses, Emma was pursued by suspected Aye cult members.

The shooting, which took place at the bustling Oliha Market, caused a chaotic scene as motorists, traders, and passers-by scrambled for safety.

The victim was reportedly a revenue collector for drivers in the state.

Residents of the area transported his remains in a commercial vehicle to an undisclosed morgue.

Following the killing, operatives from the Textile Mill Road Police Division arrived at the scene to restore order.

When contacted for comments, the Edo Police Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, stated that he had not yet been briefed on the incident.
