According to sources, Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to tender his resignation on Friday, barring any last-minute change.
A national vice chairman of the party will replace Mr. Ganduje in an acting capacity until a convention is held in December.

The move is said to be aimed at appeasing stakeholders from the North Central region, who have been advocating for the return of the chairmanship seat to their zone, as well as addressing growing internal opposition to his leadership.
Mr. Ganduje was appointed in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu. Since then, there have been continuous calls for the position to revert to the North Central, where Adamu hailed from.
Sources indicate that Mr. Ganduje, who is from Kano, was persuaded to step down as the ruling party strategizes for the 2027 elections.
