Tinubu Brokers Peace Between Fubara, Wike [VIDEO]

President Bola Tinubu successfully mediated a peace agreement on Thursday night between suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

This reconciliation was announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his official X account after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Onanuga confirmed that the President “hosted a reconciliation meeting… bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.”

The meeting included Governor Fubara, Minister Wike, and state lawmakers led by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule.

The long-standing political differences between Wike, the former governor, and his successor, Fubara, have been escalating since 2023.

A previous meeting in December 2023 failed to resolve their conflict, leading to the polarization of the state legislature and the demolition of the state assembly complex.

In response to the political chaos and attacks on oil installations, President Tinubu took a decisive step on March 18, 2025, by declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State.

This action resulted in the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the State House of Assembly.
