Atiku, David Mark, Others Meet, Ask Nigerians To Join In Unseating Tinubu

A group of concerned People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Senate President David Mark, have urged Nigerians to join them in an effort to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

They made the call in Abuja on Tuesday following a closed-door meeting where they discussed the state of the PDP and the nation.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the leaders called on all PDP members and Nigerians to unite in a broad coalition dedicated to promoting national unity, democratic principles, security, economic recovery, and a robust fight against corruption.

They emphasized that coalition partners must develop strategies tailored to both national and local political realities in preparation for future elections.

The group expressed deep concern over the PDP’s decline since its loss in the 2023 presidential election and the resignation of its former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

They noted that the party has been plagued by internal divisions and a failure to adhere to its constitution, leading to instability and a loss of direction.

Furthermore, the leaders accused the APC-led Federal Government of undermining democracy by using state institutions to weaken the opposition.

They characterized the government’s performance as a failure, citing worsening economic conditions, rising insecurity, and a general collapse of public trust in governance.

According to the communiqué, the PDP has been significantly weakened, with many of its elected officials abandoning the party due to pressure, threats, and political patronage from the ruling party.

The meeting concluded with a call for urgent action to rebuild the PDP and work towards restoring stability, credibility, and effective leadership in Nigeria.
