ADC Coalition Announces New Venue After Hotel Cancels Booking

The African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition has quickly secured a new venue for the official unveiling of its political platform, following an abrupt cancellation by the original host, Wells Carlton Hotel, earlier on Wednesday.

According to a statement signed by ADC’s Deputy National Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, the unveiling will now take place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja by 2:00 pm on Wednesday.

The statement also noted that “Members of the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, BOT, and other key stakeholders and members are expected to attend. Please note that attendance is self-sponsored.”

This announcement comes hours after the Wells Carlton Hotel unexpectedly withdrew from hosting the event, citing an unspecified “internal compliance matter.”

A message from the hotel, shared by media personality and politician Dele Momodu, expressed regret for the late cancellation, acknowledging it was “less than 24 hours away” and would cause inconvenience.

The sudden cancellation had sparked outrage among opposition leaders, with some, including Momodu, openly accusing the APC-led government of political interference.

The ADC is being positioned as the adopted platform for a new opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Prominent figures reportedly backing this movement include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Senate President David Mark, and ex-governors Rauf Aregbesola and Nasir El-Rufai.
