Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai, Amaechi, Others Arrive At Yar’Dua Centre For Coalition Meeting

Members of a newly formed opposition coalition are currently gathering at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for a media conference, operating under the umbrella of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This pivotal event marks a strategic move for the coalition, as they have adopted the ADC as their platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

A significant array of prominent political figures are already present at the venue, underscoring the broad appeal and ambition of this new alliance.

Among those in attendance are Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi.

Also present are former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The gathering further includes former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who have recently been appointed as the interim national chairman and national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.

Notably, Mark recently resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take on this new leadership role within the coalition.

Further strengthening the coalition’s presence are figures such as former House of Representatives member Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalong, media personality Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP), former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, a former Chief of Air Staff.

Additionally, numerous other politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Labour Party (LP) are in attendance, highlighting the diverse support base of this emerging political force.

Former Senate President David Mark is expected to lead the coalition members into the hall to formally commence the conference.
