I’ll Campaign With Them, But ……. – Lamido Speaks On Coalition

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has expressed his readiness to support any legitimate democratic initiative by patriotic Nigerians aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu from power in 2027.

Lamido articulated this stance during an interview with Vanguard in Abuja on Wednesday.

While indicating his support for the newly formed opposition coalition operating under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and led by Senator David Mark, Lamido firmly stated that he would not abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he was instrumental in building.

He believes it would be wrong to leave the PDP to those he referred to as “ingrates” who seek to dismantle the party.

Lamido affirmed, “Yes. I’m open to any arrangement that can confront the All Progressives Congress and rescue Nigeria. I’ll support those who share that goal. I’ll campaign with them. But my platform is the PDP. Even though it’s very sick, I will stay and fight for its survival.”

Commenting on Senator David Mark’s decision to leave the PDP for the new coalition, Lamido acknowledged it as a form of sacrifice.

However, he emphasized his differing approach, stating, “Mine is different. I choose to stay and fight. We’re all making sacrifices in different ways for the same objective. My take is simple: I want a united, secure, safe, and prosperous Nigeria. That’s what I truly want.”

He also voiced confidence in the PDP’s resilience, despite the actions of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and his allies, whom Lamido believes are actively working to weaken the party.

Lamido further alleged that Wike and his associates are collaborating with President Tinubu and the APC, aiming to benefit from the PDP’s potential downfall.
