Coalition: Why Presidential Ticket Won’t Divide ADC – Dele  Momodu

Chief Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation magazine, has stated that opposition politicians who have taken over the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have reached a principal agreement that internal power struggles will not jeopardize the coalition’s unity.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Momodu expressed his satisfaction with the coalition’s launch, affirming the opposition’s readiness to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The coalition’s launch, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saw the attendance of numerous high-profile politicians.

These included Peter Obi, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party; Rauf Aregbesola, former Governor of Osun State; David Mark, former Senate President; John Odigie-Oyegun, former National Chairman of the ruling APC; Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State; Abubakar Malami; and Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation.

Other notable attendees were former Governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal; former Governor of Cross River, Liyel Imoke; Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed; Dino Melaye; Elisha Abbo; and various other politicians who joined the coalition from the PDP, APC, and Labour Party.

During the broadcast, Momodu emphasized that the politicians within the coalition are prioritizing Nigeria’s interests above any personal ambitions.

When questioned about whether political positions had already been allocated among the coalition’s top members, the publisher gave a negative response.

He added that the coalition members are aware of potential future developments but have committed not to allow such matters to cause division.

Momodu stated, “I believe that, in principle, they know what is likely to happen, and they’ve decided they’ve promised that they will not allow that to divide them, right. That for me is joyful. I’m excited.”

According to him, the politicians involved with the ADC are not driven by a desire to simply seize power.
