Osun PDP Chairman Speaks On Adeleke Joining Coalition

Following the announcement of a new coalition led by former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Chairman in Osun State, Mr. Sunday Bisi, has clarified that Governor Ademola Adeleke has no affiliation with the group.

It was recently revealed that the Atiku-led coalition has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political vehicle to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

However, the Osun State PDP Chairman distanced the party from any coalition, regardless of its guise, asserting that the PDP remains intact in the state.

Bisi firmly stated, “We remain with PDP. Governor Ademola Adeleke also remain in the PDP. We are in PDP, we are not going anywhere. I can assure you, we are not going anywhere.”

Commenting on the formation of the coalition, Bisi acknowledged that Atiku Abubakar and his associates have the democratic right to form alliances, drawing a parallel to the APC’s coalition formation in 2015.

He declared, “We are in a democracy. Before APC came to power in 2016, they also formed a coalition. There’s nothing wrong with those people coming together to form a coalition against it.”

Despite this, Bisi criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for labeling the PDP as a weak party incapable of winning an election.

He dismissed Atiku’s comment as unserious, citing the former Vice President’s history of frequent political party changes.

Bisi stated, “I did not agree with Atiku Abubakar that the PDP is weak and cannot win an election. This will not be the first time Atiku has left PDP, and PDP won the election in his absence.”
