“I Cannot Continue To Be On Board While Watching Helplessly As The Party Sinks Like The Titanic Of 1912” – Former Reps Chief Whip Dumps PDP

Barrister Ishaka Bawa, former Chief Whip of the House of Representatives and representative for the Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his resignation letter, dated July 2, 2025, and addressed to the PDP state chairman, Bawa cited the party’s escalating internal crises as his reason for leaving.

He stated that his decision came after extensive consultations with his family, political allies, and constituents, declaring, “I cannot continue to be on board while watching helplessly as the party sinks like the Titanic of 1912.

Bawa’s resignation occurs just one day after the PDP state chairman, Abubakar Bawa, issued a warning of disciplinary action against any party member found to be sympathetic to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Although Barrister Bawa’s letter did not explicitly mention his next political affiliation, sources suggest he is considering joining the ADC.

Concurrently, reports indicate that a number of influential politicians from both the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state are also contemplating defecting to the ADC.

An anonymous chieftain from one of these parties confirmed that many politicians are preparing to align with the ADC, partly influenced by the involvement of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
