Presidential Aide Reacts To Boss Mustapha’s Claim That Tinubu Didn’t Make Buhari President In 2015

Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, has countered former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha’s assertion that President Bola Tinubu did not make former President Muhammadu Buhari president in 2015.

In a social media post, the Presidential aide highlighted that despite having his “12 million captive Northern votes,” Buhari had lost previous presidential elections in 2003, 2007, and 2011 before his 2015 victory.

Ajayi specifically argued that Buhari would not have even secured the presidential candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) without Tinubu’s crucial intervention.

He stated that Tinubu “mobilised the APC governors and the South West delegates” during the 2014 APC primary election at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, swaying the vote in Buhari’s favor.

Accusing Mustapha of “doing a disservice to our recent history,” Ajayi wrote, “There is no way he [Buhari] would have won the election to be president without first becoming the presidential candidate of his party APC. General Buhari would not have won the APC primary election at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, in 2014 without President Tinubu, who mobilised the APC governors and the South West delegates to move Buhari’s way.”

He concluded by stressing that “Every effort and support that made it possible for President Buhari to win should never be diminished.”
