Bwala Resigns From PDP

Daniel M. Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He cited concerns about what he described as the party’s “declining commitment to leadership and accountability.”

Bwala’s resignation was formally conveyed in a letter dated July 10, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Garkida Ward, Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

In the letter, he expressed disappointment over the party’s alleged departure from its founding principles, calling the situation “regrettable.”

He stated that he could no longer remain with the PDP as it no longer aligned with the ideals that initially attracted him. His resignation is effective immediately.

“I hereby formally resign my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” he wrote in the letter.

“This decision stems from my deep concern over the Party’s declining commitment to purposeful and visionary leadership, which has significantly deviated from the principles that initially attracted me to the PDP.”

“A political party should be a vehicle for progressive governance, accountability and the collective aspirations of the people,” he said.

“Regrettably, the current leadership has failed to uphold these values, resulting in a lack of direction, internal discord, and weakening of public trust. I can no longer, in good conscience, remain part of an organization that no longer reflects the ideals of service, integrity and democratic progress.

“I appreciate the opportunities I have had in the party and the relationships I have built. Thank you,” he added.

Before his appointment by President Tinubu in November 2024 as Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications, Bwala had served as the spokesman for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign in the 2023 election.1
