List Of States To Experience 3-Day Thunderstorms, Sunshine From Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook for Friday, July 11, to Sunday, July 13, 2025, forecasting a mix of thunderstorms and sunshine across the country.

For Friday:

  • Northern Region: Thunderstorms are expected, with light to moderate rains in parts of Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, and Bauchi during the morning. Other areas will see sunny conditions with scattered clouds. Thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated in the afternoon or evening.
  • Central Region: Morning hours will be sunny with cloud patches. Moderate thunderstorms and rainfall are expected over parts of Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Niger, and Plateau states in the afternoon and evening.
  • Southern Region: Cloudy skies are predicted, with light morning rains possible over parts of Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. Moderate rains are expected across most of the region later in the day.

For Saturday:

  • Northern Region: Morning will be sunny with patches of clouds. Isolated thunderstorms and light rains are forecast for parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Jigawa, Bauchi, Borno, Katsina, Zamfara, Yobe, and Kaduna. Afternoon or evening thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Borno, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Zamfara, and Kaduna.
  • Central Region: Early morning thunderstorms with light rains are anticipated in parts of Niger and Plateau. Afternoon or evening will bring moderate to heavy thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and Plateau.
  • Southern Region: Cloudy skies are expected, with morning rains possible in parts of Abia, Ebonyi, Ogun, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa. Moderate to heavy rains are anticipated across the region during the afternoon or evening.

For Sunday:

  • Northern Region: Thunderstorms are predicted, with moderate morning rains over parts of Taraba, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna. Remaining areas will be sunny with cloud patches. Afternoon or evening thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected over parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Borno, and Yobe.
  • Central Region: Morning will see cloudy skies, with potential for thunderstorms and moderate rainfall over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, Kwara, Niger, and Plateau. Light to moderate rainfall is expected later in the day over parts of Benue, Abuja, Nasarawa, and Plateau.
  • Southern Region: Morning rains are anticipated over parts of Ondo, Edo, Ogun, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom, with the rest of the day expected to be cloudy. Moderate to heavy rains are forecast for the afternoon or evening periods across the southern region.

NiMet advises the public to exercise caution, as strong winds may precede the rains in areas prone to thunderstorms.
