APC, PDP, NNPP Supporters Decamp To ADC In Katsina

On Sunday in Katsina, hundreds of supporters from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This mass defection occurred during the unveiling of the ADC’s Katsina State chapter, which is headed by Mustapha Inuwa, the leader of the coalition in the state.

New membership cards were distributed to the decampees, who represented all genders and hailed from all 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

During the ceremony at the Continental Event Center in Katsina, Lawal Batagarawa, the state’s National representative of the National Political Coalition Group, expressed deep concern over the alarming rise of insecurity, poverty, inflation, and the depreciation of the Naira under President Bola Tinubu’s administration since 2023.

He noted that numerous industries have collapsed during this period. Batagarawa emphasized the crucial need for unity among citizens and party members, confidently stating that the ADC would succeed in combating terrorism, banditry, poverty, and illiteracy across the country.

Usman Musa Wamba, the Chairman of the Katsina State Chapter of the ADC, expressed optimism about the party’s performance in the upcoming 2027 general elections and called for increased support from the electorate, especially the youth, to enable them to benefit from the dividends of democracy.

Aliyu Saulawa, a former APC member who served as Director of Media for the Buhari Campaign Organisation and National Coordinator of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement, was among the decampees.

He asserted that the APC has “failed woefully” in delivering on its campaign promises, particularly in the North, claiming the party has achieved less than one percent of its pledges from recent elections.

Saulawa specifically cited the critical lack of security in the Northwest, explaining that as peasant farmers and merchants, their livelihoods are entirely dependent on security.

He added, “Without security, there is nothing like livelihood… if we lack security, we virtually lack everything, including the educational system that is collapsed, honestly, I cannot continue to remain in APC.”
