Former President Muhammadu Buhari Dies In London

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away.

His former aide, Bashir Ahmad, announced the news on X this afternoon, stating: “The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”

Buhari, who was 82 years old, served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023. Prior to that, he led the country as a military head of state between 1983 and 1985.

He was widely recognized for his strong anti-corruption stance and his efforts to stabilize the economy during his time in office.

Further details regarding burial arrangements are expected to be released by his family, in accordance with Islamic rites.
