On Wednesday, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose marked his court victory by enjoying a meal of amala with construction workers.
This came after Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos cleared him of allegations of money laundering and theft involving ₦6.9 billion.
The judge upheld a no-case submission by Fayose’s legal team, ruling that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had failed to prove any direct involvement or establish a solid case against him.

Fayose was initially arraigned in 2018 before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, but the matter was later reassigned to Justice Aneke.
The EFCC had accused him of receiving ₦1.2 billion for his 2014 governorship campaign and taking $5 million in cash from then Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, without going through a bank.
Following the judgment, a video shared by Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, showed Fayose eating amala alongside site workers in celebration.
