ADC Reacts Strongly To Okpebolo’s Threat To Peter Obi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo’s declaration that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is “persona non grata” in the state.

In an X post on Saturday, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, labeled the governor’s remarks as “disgraceful and undemocratic.”

He asserted that as a Nigerian citizen, Peter Obi does not need the governor’s permission to visit any part of the country, including Edo State.

“Edo State is a Nigerian state. Obi is a free citizen and does not need the governor’s clearance to visit Nigerians in their own country,” Abdullahi stated.

Abdullahi further criticized Governor Okpebholo’s reaction to Obi’s visit and donations in the state, calling it a sign of insecurity.

“When a governor panics over courtesy visits and modest donations, it is a clear sign that something is deeply wrong somewhere,” he added.

The ADC spokesman suggested that genuine leaders who have served their people effectively would not be bothered by public applause given to others.

He implied that the support shown to Obi might serve as a reminder to the governor of the leadership qualities the public expects.

Governor Okpebholo’s warning to Obi has indeed drawn widespread criticism on social media.
