Aliyu Bello, the Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State and a long-standing ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has resigned from his position and formally withdrawn his membership from the party.
Bello announced his decision in two separate letters, both dated July 16, 2025.
One letter was addressed to the Kaduna State PDP Chairman, informing him of his immediate resignation as the State Financial Secretary.
The second letter, sent to the Chairman of his Tudun Nupawa Ward, clarified that his departure extended to his full membership in the party, citing “personal grounds” as his reason.

Bello expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had to serve the party over the years, including two terms as State Youth Leader and as a Ward Delegate from 2003 to 2015.
While Bello has not disclosed his future political affiliations, his exit is seen as another significant blow to the PDP, closely following Atiku Abubakar’s recent departure.
Political observers are now anticipating further defections, especially among Atiku’s loyalists in the Northern region.
The Kaduna PDP has yet to issue an official statement, but party insiders suggest the resignation could exacerbate internal discontent and lead to further instability within the party.
