Emir Of Gusau Dies At 71

Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, passed away on Friday in Abuja at the age of 71, following a prolonged illness.

He was the 16th Emir, having ascended the throne on March 16, 2015, succeeding his late father.

A seasoned civil servant, Emir Bello rose to the position of Permanent Secretary during his service in both the old Sokoto and current Zamfara states, serving for over a decade as Emir.

Sulaiman Idris, spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, confirmed the Emir’s demise and expressed condolences on behalf of the state.

Governor Lawal described the Emir’s death as a profound personal loss, remembering him as a supportive royal father and a capable leader dedicated to improving Zamfara State.

In his statement, Governor Lawal extended heartfelt condolences to the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, the late Emir’s family, the Gusau emirate, and all the people of Zamfara State.

He emphasized that the Emir’s passing is a significant loss not only for Zamfara but for the entire Northern region and Nigeria.

He highlighted the late royal father’s decade of committed, dedicated service and strong faith.

The Governor concluded by praying for the Emir’s soul to be granted Aljannah, reflecting on their close relationship: “I have lost a confidant and a father whose wisdom guides me and other state leaders. May the Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah.”
