Suspected Transmission Tower Vandal Electrocuted In Ebonyi

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that a suspected vandal was electrocuted on July 19 while attempting to tamper with transmission Tower 34 along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132 kilovolts (kV) Line in Ebonyi State.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, the body of the electrocuted individual, found hanging on the tower, has since been recovered.

Mbah reiterated TCN’s consistent warnings against such acts, stressing the potentially fatal consequences of tampering with high-voltage transmission infrastructure.

She emphasized that such infrastructure is crucial for national development and poses significant health and safety risks to anyone who interferes with it.

She said, ‘TCN urges the public to protect electricity infrastructure within their vicinity and report any suspicious activity around power installations to security operatives or any of its offices nationwide.”
