President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Saddiq Ismaila Kaita as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
AVM Kaita replaces Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who also serves as the chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

According to a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Friday, the change was made to allow Dr. Gawuna to focus on his role at the FHA.
Gawuna is a close ally of the immediate-past APC national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who currently chairs the Board of FAAN.
Before his retirement from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), AVM Saddiq Ismaila Kaita held positions as the Director of Strategy and the Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
He is recognized for his significant contributions to training and standardization within the Air Force.
