The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has allegedly been forced to sign a resignation letter, according to a report by Peoples Gazette on Saturday.
The report claims that Ojulari was “hijacked” on Friday and pressured to resign by Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Adeola Ajayi, the director-general of the State Security Service (SSS).
Citing anonymous sources, the news platform stated that Ojulari was repeatedly questioned about his knowledge of Olatimbo Ayinde, a British-Nigerian oil businesswoman who has reportedly become a powerful force in the Tinubu administration.
The source told Peoples Gazette that Ojulari denied knowing Ayinde.
As of Saturday afternoon, there has been no official response from the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, and Ojulari has not returned requests for comments.
The alleged incident comes after NNPCL had recently raised an alarm over “sabotage of the state-owned oil firm’s leadership.”
Ojulari was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in April 2025.
