Following a fatal secret cult initiation ritual, one suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of Prosper Ezekiel, a 25-year-old man.
Police spokesman CSP Moses Joel stated that Ezekiel died on Saturday, August 2, 2025, while being initiated into the Black Axe cult in a forest in Warrake, Auchi, Edo State.
The police have identified three individuals who entered the forest for the ritual: Cosmos Ado, 32, Prosper Ezekiel, 25, and Redeem Afeabor.

Ado was arrested after Ezekiel suddenly collapsed during the ritual and was pronounced dead at a nearby medical facility.
Police recovered four expended cartridges from the scene.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has ordered a full investigation and directed that all remaining suspects be apprehended.
He also issued a warning that anyone found guilty of cult-related violence will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
