States Predicted To Experience Three-Day Rainy Conditions From Wednesday To Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a three-day period of thundery and rainy weather across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

According to a weather outlook released in Abuja, the northern region is expected to experience thunderstorms and moderate rains, particularly over parts of Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, and other states.

The central region will see light rains, with a possibility of thunderstorms later in the day over states like Nasarawa, Kogi, and the Federal Capital Territory.

Intermittent rains are also forecast for the entire southern region throughout the period.

NiMet has issued a high possibility of flooding for several states, including parts of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa, Taraba, Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, and Cross River.

In response to the forecast, the agency advised the public to take precautions.

This includes avoiding driving in heavy rain, securing loose objects, and activating emergency response systems in flood-prone areas.

NiMet also cautioned against using fertilizers and pesticides right before the rains and recommended that people wear warm clothing due to low night-time temperatures.

The public was further advised to disconnect electrical appliances and stay away from tall trees.

Airline operators were urged to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective planning.
